This year has actually been quite good to me. It certainly has been kinder to me than to several of my friends. Some of my friends lost their homes this year, others filed for bankruptcy, some had to do both. A few lost their spouse through separation, divorce and death. So this strip is not for me, it's for all of those who want desperately to put this year behind them.

I enjoy watching movies about funerals. I think that I’m attracted to wondering if the dead have a final surprise waiting for us. Maybe it’s a message left behind by plan or accident. Maybe it’s a long held secret finally revealed within the will. Or just the opening spill gates of raw emotion drenching everyone. Whatever the cause, for me a funeral movie is like a roadside accident, my curiosity of how bad the damage is always gets the better of me and I have to rubberneck. And if you rubberneck as well, you will see something more than a mere fender-bender as there is some heavy wreckage occurring. There might even be a fatality.


I bet the boys down at Soapy's are still talking about this.

The demand for my creative genius took me to New Haven, Connecticut this week. The hometown of Yale is very interesting. Why was I there? I was drawing top-secret stuff for top-secret people. And yet again I amazed all with my outstanding brilliance. From the heap of images I created I did find one that I’ll can share, you can draw your own conclusions.

Right now, I wish I could put Stickman back in his cubical, but I have a few more days of funeral-related stuff to purge from my system.

One wonderful moment of levity can make the whole day bearable, not to mention provide a cartoonist with plenty of material for future strips.
