The Return of Stickman #859

I voted two weeks ago by mail-in ballot. Since then I have lost complete interest in the election. I’m sure it will come back when the votes are tallied. But, until then I think I have become so tired of the whole process I just want to tune it out.

The Return of Stickman #856

I spent this last week on assignment in New Jersey and Manhattan. I’m often asked about the type of work I do on these missions. A lot of it is drawing metaphors. Here is an image about the obvious need to restructure priorities.

This is why you should always carry some of those breath strips with you at all times.

The Return of Stickman #852

I want to thank Comic Book Inc. for being this week's first prize sponsor for the Frost Park Chalk Off. And what was first prize, won by yours truly? Issues #1-8 of Danger Girl.

The Return of Stickman #851 and My Big Chalky Eye

I had a lot of fun of the 28th Frost Park Chalk Off yesterday. My neighbor during the competition was Andrea from Unstable Art. She has won a number of the Chalk Offs and is in current running for Grand Champion. Though, I think that James Stowe is currently in the lead for that honor. Just two more competitions to go before a final tally is made.

The Return of Stickman #848

Well, that came back to bite me in the ass.

My good friend, fellow cartoonist, and Chalk Art Champion Extrodinairé, James Stowe got a great idea. As a daily exercise throughout the spooky month of October he would combine two random things and create little monsters. He would draw both things, and then what they would combine into. And he would call these creations Stoweckies. His first Stoweckie, Vampire + Squid = Squidpire, set off a wave of suggestions. It also prompted me to send him in a submission.

James has his own idea of what a Robot and Zombie combination should look like. Check out and the other Stoweckies he's come up with at:

The Return of Stickman #847

While I had some other strips lined up in my buffer, I got a brainstorm last night for this one. I just couldn't resist.

The Return of Stickman #846

I'm tempted to do another strip on this to show a behind the scenes scenario of what led up to the tasering. Oh yeah, this really happened.

The Return of Stickman #845

I will happily admit that I'm one of those people who will pick up a coin they find in the street, even if it is only a penny. I guess it goes back to my childhood when finding money on the street was the closest thing I had to an allowance.

The Return of Stickman #843

Last week I bought a Honda Civic Hybrid. So far I've been stuck in nothing but rush-hour traffic and I've been getting 42.9 miles to the gallon. What does this have to do with my cartoons? Smugness. Did I mention that my entire garage now smells like new car? Yup. It's true.

The Comic Critic Reviews The Earth Dies Screaming and The Return of Stickman #842

I made several mistakes about The Earth Dies Screaming; the worst was that I thought it came out in 1957. I thought it might have beat “Plan Nine from Outer Space” as the first to have alien-controlled dead people. And don’t go trying to tell me that that honor belongs to “The Brain Eaters,” because its people weren’t dead, they were just taken over by parasitesBut I did find one “first:” This is the first movie whose zombies have those creepy full-white eyes. Ew! That almost makes up for it being like a half-finished episode of Dr. Who.
